ALFA TCT gearbox

The Alfa MiTo can be equipped with the new ALFA TCT gearbox, offering the driver optimum performance. It is a semi-automatic transmission system with double dry clutch, consisting of two gearboxes in parallel that allow the next gear to engage while the previous one is still engaged. The ALFA TCT switch has 6 gears and 4 positions:

Parking (P), Reverse (R), Neutral (N) and Drive (D).

Gears can be changed manually in TIP mode with the up and down positions of the gear lever, or by using the optional steering wheel controls.

This technology brings genuine benefits:

• Up to 10% less fuel consumption compared to the traditional automatic gearbox with torque converter
• Faster, smoother shifts without loss of power and without jerking
• Switch from automatic to manual sequential mode with a single action

The ALFA TCT gearbox offers the driver the chance to customise his or her driving style, perfectly interfacing with the Alfa Romeo D.N.A. functions.

In Normal mode, all on the road behaviour is aimed at comfort and at optimising fuel consumption. Engagement of the highest gear is prioritised during over-run to reduce fuel consumption and minimise noise.

In Dynamic mode, the vehicle's performance and reactivity are a priority.

• Gears are shifted at higher rpm
• Engine braking is always ensured when the accelerator is released
• In sequential mode, the sporty feeling is enhanced by sharper, quicker gear shifts and more reactive torque delivery

In All-Weather mode, the gear shift strategy and engine calibration are similar to those of Normal mode. Torque control is increased during acceleration to optimise road holding in low grip conditions.

Available on the 1.4 TB MultiAir 135 bhp engine in the Distinctive trim.
