ALFA ROMEO IRELAND ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF MONDELLO PARK BRIDGE
Alfa Romeo Ireland is proud to announce its official sponsorship of one of Irish motorsport’s most iconic landmarks – the Mondello Park bridge. This exciting partnership also sees the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the all-new Alfa Romeo Junior unveiled as the official safety cars for the circuit.
This landmark collaboration coincides with Alfa Romeo’s 115th anniversary, celebrating over a century of passion, innovation, and racing heritage. The brand’s deep-rooted motorsport legacy in Ireland dates back to 1929, when Russian driver Boris Ivanowski secured victory at the first Irish Grand Prix in Phoenix Park driving an Alfa Romeo 6C. Two years later, in 1931, Sir Henry Birkin won the Éireann Cup in an Alfa Romeo 8C – marking a golden era for Alfa in Irish racing.
While the Grand Prix era may have passed, Alfa Romeo's influence remained strong across Irish motorsport, including at Mondello Park – Ireland’s only international racing venue. From the Leinster Trophy to national series events, Alfa has long been synonymous with performance and prestige.
Over the years, Mondello Park has hosted motorsport legends such as Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, and James Hunt, while nurturing homegrown talent like John Watson, Eddie Irvine, and Eddie Jordan. As a symbol of this shared commitment to racing excellence, Alfa Romeo’s name will now feature prominently on the bridge that spans the legendary track.
John Saunders, Head of Alfa Romeo Ireland, commented:
“Alfa Romeo has a proud racing heritage, and we're thrilled to bring that spirit to Ireland’s premier racing venue. The Mondello Park bridge is an iconic feature of Irish motorsport, and we’re honoured to see the Alfa Romeo name featured so prominently. With the Giulia and the new Junior leading the safety fleet, we’re also showcasing the power and dynamism that define Alfa Romeo today.”
The Alfa Romeo Giulia – a refined yet powerful sports saloon – and the Alfa Romeo Junior – the brand’s first all-electric model – will now lead the safety car fleet at Mondello Park. Their presence reinforces Alfa Romeo’s commitment to performance, innovation, and Italian design excellence.
Roddy Greene, Managing Director of Mondello Park, added:“We’re delighted to welcome Alfa Romeo Ireland on board as the official sponsor of the Mondello Park bridge. The brand’s legacy in motorsport and commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our vision for the future of Irish racing. The addition of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Junior to our safety car fleet elevates our track presence and adds a touch of Italian flair to every race day.”
This partnership ushers in a new chapter for both Alfa Romeo and Mondello Park – uniting two brands with a shared love of performance, precision, and motorsport heritage.
